Linspire cannot see shared folders on Windows XP

I have a network with two computers (this is actually for a client). One is Windows XP, the other is Linspire 6.0. They are networked through a Netgear router.

I want to share folders on the Windows machine that can be viewed and written to by the Linpsire box. I also want to share folders on the Linpsire box so that they can be read and written to by the XP box.

I enabled the folders I wanted to share on both computers. I made sure that that they were part of the same workgroup (named: WORKGROUP).

The XP box can see the Linspire box and its shared folders. It can also read them and write to them.

The Linspire box can see the XP box on the network through the network share manager. However, when I click on the plus sign by the XP box, it turns to a minus but does not display the shared folders on the XP box. I am stumped at this point.

What also bites is that I had this working at one time I had this working time, although the Linspire version was 5 at that time. However, I think it stopped working before the upgrade to 6.

I have turned off the Windows firewall and have never enabled the firewall in Linspire. I know I'm forgetting a few things, but I'm not in front of the Linspire computer right now.

Can you access the share with the command line?

smb://your-winxp-ip/your-share-name ???

If you can, then the problem is with network share manager. Also try clicking on the desktop computer icon and then open the network browser. (assuming gnome)
