linksys USB Network Adapter, Fedora Core 1 - How do I activate it?

When I boot with the USB NIC installed, only the onboard NIC is
active (eth0).

If I run hardware browser, the USB device shows up under
SYSTEM DEVICES, but NOT under NETWORK devices or USB Devices.

Is there a modprobe I need to do to get this active?

I need a second NIC and the computer has no expansion slots at all,
not just none available.

I checked linksys website, but they seem to be MS drones, nothing
linux mentioned with this equipment.

I know the USB ports are working, as it does see my external USB
harddrive quite nicely.

When I read that thread, the suggestion was:

modprobe pegasus
ifconfig eth0 up

However, what I am supposed to do with those lines, I don't get it. Sorry, I am very new at linux.

These are commands that you need to type in the Konsole or whatever terminal that you are most comfortable with. You may need to be in root 1st.
