linksys nc100 not working on slackware 10

Hey all,

Turning a 1.7 GHz p4 into router/firewall/dhcp server... it has an onboard ethernet (3com 3c905C) and a PCI linksys nc100 card... the 3com is recognized fine, but the linksys wont come up. the tulip driver apparently is being loaded, however--lsmod lists:

Module Size Used by Not tainted
tulip 40352 0 (unused)
crc32 2880 0 [tulip]
ntfs 51424 1 (autoclean)
ide-scsi 9328 0
3c59x 25648 1
agpgart 43940 0 (unused)

i also tried using the tulip-diag program off of scyld.com, here are its results:

Index #1: Found a ADMtek AL985 Centaur-P adapter at 0xec00.
Comet duplex is reported in the MII status registers.
Transmit stopped, Receive stopped.
The Rx process state is 'Stopped'.
The Tx process state is 'Stopped'.
The transmit threshold is 128.
Interrupt sources are pending! CSR5 is fc00c810.
Link passed indication.
Timer expired indication.
Early Rx indication.
Comet MAC address registers 1f6d0300 ffff26a1
Comet multicast filter 0000000000000000.

i have no idea what is going on here, so if anyone could help that would be awesome!

thanks

sorry. forget about it... im an idiot, didnt realize i had to issue ifconfig up command (im a newb, sue me)...

incidentally, how would i go about compiling this into the kernel as opposed to a module (and is there any advtange to doign that?) also, is there a way to have eth0 and eth1 come up automatically? (so i dont have to issue ifconfig up eth1...)

thx!

try as root/super user
Code:

echo "ifconfig eth0 up" >> /etc/rc.d/rc.local
echo "ifconfig eth1 up" >> /etc/rc.d/rc.local
