link two network cards

Dear all,

this should be pretty straight forward, however,...

I have a Linux box with two network cards
- wlan0 (192.168.123.100) points to a router which has access to the Internet
- eth0 (172.16.1.3) is connected to a Linux notebook.

Linux Notebook
- eth0 (172.16.1.1) is connected to the Linux box

From the notebook I can ping both 172.16.1.3 and 192.168.123.100, however I cannot ping the router (192.168.123.254)

I already entered
Code:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
Do I need some iptables command???

Regards, Carsten
