Question Lenovo/Iomega NAS update messed up HDD

Before you post it, I know... I should have got a different NAS drive, but the price was right. It is a "Iomega 2 TB EZ Media & Backup Center (35541)", which is now owned by Lenovo. When I updated the firmware, from Iomega's to Lenovo's, the drive stopped booting.

Lenovo will not support it due to being out of warranty, and I already tried to force a new version of the firmware on it using the USB port in the back. Also, I am trying not to lose all my data on it. I know the data is still there, since I used SpinRite to examine the drive; there is no damage to the drive.

I loaded it into both windows and linux, and I know the partitions are there. I can only view the files on the partition with the stripped OS for the NAS (20GB), but the main partition (1.8TB) will not mount. It says the block size is wrong for the file system type when I try to force load it as ext3 and, when I use a general mount, it states that "linux_raid_member" is not a valid file system.

blkid shows both drives as raid 1 members, but it is a single drive NAS. My linux is rusty, so I contacted a *nix admin I know. He looked at the issue, but could not figure out a fix without formatting the drive.

Any ideas? It might be an easy fix, but I have not used much *nix since my Sun box compiled all my code in college. Thanks in advance!

I am sure this question is just as much hardware as networking; sorry, I was unsure where to put it.

I figured out how to mount the drive. I had to use lvm2 tools to get it. Here is what I did:
sudo su
lvdisplay
vgdisplay
modprobe dm-mod
vgchange -ay
md
mount

I got all my files, but I think it is the device itself that is bad. I repartitioned and installed the kernal, and it is still stuck in a reboot loop. On the up side, it is a nice hand-warmer when it is running. I guess I will scrap the NAS device and put the HDD in a dual-bay. Got what I paid for on that one.
