layer 3 routing with Linux?


Is there software available to do layer three routing on Linux?

IP routing ?

Zebra can be a good start... www.zebra.org

Well, what I am interesting in doing is setting up a linux based router that can help me do VLANs.

As of 2.4.14 802.1q is in the standard kernel tree. You'll need to set CONFIG_VLAN_8021Q=y and recompile as it defaults to no.
