Large file problems
Can someone please advise?
I have a Mandrake 10 installlation and I am using Samba to access a Windows XP Pro PC. Firstly, I always have to go to terminal, su and the mount the share as using fstab does not work (when using terminal, I am always asked for a Password!) Secondly, once connected, if I try to move a large file from WinXP to Linux, I get about 200Mb and get a Stalled message in KDE?!??!?!? Thanks Simon |
What happens if you try moving it from a command line? Seems more like a KDE problem to me. And why doesn't fstab work? Can you give more details, error messages, etc?

FSTAB and Command Line
I will try the command line check and let you know, but, I also get an issue when trying to burn a CD in K3b from the SMB share, it burns at 52x for the first 33% then drops to 18x ish for the rest (suspiciously like the copying!).
If I add the fstab mount line, on boot, the system hangs at the mounting SMB until I press enter. Can you send a password in fstab lines? Thanks Simon |
you can give
credentials=<credentials file> option in /etc/fstab The credentials file should have username= password= #man smbmount for more details. |
