LAN Network with win98 and Linux

Help Please,
we are trying to connect the win98 box and Linux...
we are unable to geta LAN connection between these two.

1)How to set the ip address for the Linux box.
2)i have problem in config enthernet internet configuration.
3)if i ping the ip of the WIN98 in the Linux box..it throws the error has "network is unreachable".

how shld i proceed to get the connection between these two.

can any one help me out.

so your network looks like this, I presume?:

win98 ==|hub|== Linux

1. to specify an IP in Linux, you can run (as root) 'setup' then go to network configuration, and set the IP address for the ethernet card.

2. No idea what exactly you are asking.

3. do you have zonealarm or anything like that running on your windows machine? You may need to add your windows machine to the hosts file /etc/hosts

Hello,

I have a problem in mapping the linux box in the win98 box.I'm able to self ping the both the boxes respectively.I'm able to get connected to the web from the linux box,but i dont know how i can see the file structure of win98 in the linux box.Could you please solve problem.

Well, what you are needing is to learn all about Samba. I have got it sort of working, but don't know enough yet to be able to help you out.
