Is there any software available, apart from Win/LinPopUp that will allow linux boxes to communicate with windows boxes? I'm looking for something similar to icq, is it possible to build a small icq server on a linux box for a lan?
Please Help.

not sure about icq, but 'the way forward', according to erm.. themselves, is Jabber, which can communicate with all other IM's, as well as using it's own opensource XML platform for messaging, and jabber has dozens or clients, like Psi, and Gabber for Linux.
jabbercentral.com i think, for the free server, it's even on MD80 installation disks.
I've personally been after a Peer-to-Peer multi-platform solution, but i've not managed it yet, oh well.
