I'm running Redhat 7.2 and the other machine is running Win98 (first addition). No problem with the Windows machine...now there's a suprise!
The Win98 is assigned 192.168.0.1 and linux is assigned 192.168.0.2. I have created shares on both machines. I used control panel, samba, and lisa (desktop root). I ran lisa -K from the root.
When I open Konquestor and open network - local network and lan://localhost appears in the address bar. I see a folder with the title 192.168.0.1 (win98) but I don't see my local share. I can type smb://192.168.0.2 and I see the folder ADMIN$ and my shared folder.
How do I add it so it shows up under lan://localhost?
I want to change the name that appears in lan://localhost to say Win98. When I right click and chose properties I can type the new name but it causes my Win98 machine to automatically reboot on it's own.
I have a question regarding Internet connection sharing.
I have Sybergen Sygate home network installed on the Win98 machine. I have configured the linux box according to the instruction in the manual but I still can bring up web pages. I tried pinging an IP address also, didn't work. I'm missing something but I can't figure it out. I'm using a free Netzero account.
Anyone have any ideas?
I should add that I can install W2K pro or XP pro if you think that would be a better option.
Thanks in advance
Steve
