LAN Authentication

I'm looking for LAN Authentication. So any client have to be authenticated first to be allowed to use LAN whether the client is on wired or wireless.
Anyone can help me ?
I searched for DHCP Access Control Gateway but no luck on that

Perhaps you're looking for something like a RADIUS server?

If I use RADIUS server should all my switches be replaced by an manageable type of switches ?
thx

yes, every user connected to a non manageable switch won't be authenticated.
what's more, not every manageable switch support 802.1X (the network auth norm).

unfortunately, I believe this is the only means to authenticate a user _before_ he access the network.
