LAN accessing problem

UNDER LINUX invironment --while accessing others PC's on LAN i found when I had to
watch movies, play songs etc. directly through others PC (i.e. without copying) I couldn't but under windows I could do easily.
Is there any way to do the same under LINUX(fedora core 2) as with windows.
