Kubuntu Wireless Issue (BCM4312)
Hello,
I'm having problems with my wireless card on my Kubuntu laptop. Details on the laptop is a Dell Vostro 1000 with a Broadcom 4312 802.11 b/g (rev 01). When I installed Kubuntu 9.04 the wireless card did not work, so I followed a whole bunch of different tuts and finally got it working fine, however it did drop the connection fairly often. Then the update came out, which completely buggered the wireless, so after following a few more tutorials managed to get it working, with the connection dropping still occuring, but working never-the-less! So randomly one day, I log on to find the wireless card is not being detected, the light doesnt come on saying its activated, no wireless networks show, and ifconfig shows no eth1. I had made absolutely no changes to the laptop at all, nor had I run any updates. Very odd! So after trying and endlessly failing, I booted up the older Kernel and the wireless card works fine (but still dropping out, which I can live with for no). lspci gives the following: Quote:
uname -r gives the following: Quote:
Thanks in advance for your time! EN |
Sorry just to ensure up to date information is given:
Last night I tried the tuts at the following site with no avail: http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 Thanks all, EN |
The 4312 is actually supported by Broadcom's proprietary Linux driver. I suspect that there is a package available for it if you don't want to compile from source.
