kismet problems

hey guys,

i have been working with my gateway laptop to try and get Fedora 7 to recognize my internal wifi nic. It is the RTL8187 from RealTek. I think i have gotten the wireless network to initialize but i can't seem to figure out my correct source information with kismet.

source = rt8180, wlan0, RTL

That is my current configuration under kismet.

When I start up kismet i recieve this error:

"FATAL: Support for capture source type 'rt8180' was not built. Check the out from 'configure' for more information about why it might not have been compiled in."

upon using iwconfig, i recieve that wlan0 is up. Any ideas as to what my capture source name would be?

Have you built this version of Kismet yourself? According to that error message, the problem is not with your hardware configuration, but the fact that Kismet was not compiled with support for RT8180 capture. Most likely, you are going to need to compile Kismet yourself and specify the correct build options, or at least find another build of it for Fedora.
