kernel recompilation problem

I have R.H 7.1. I successfully recompiled the kernel but I couldn't find the zimage file to copy to vmlinuz? help required. Also referral to the site containing mini-hwto of R.H 7.1's kernel recompilation would be a big help.

zImage ends up in linux/arch/i386/boot/ if I'm not mistaken.

I don't know RedHat, but everything related to the kernel should be about the same for all distro's. Just read the general kernel HOWTO

after making the image with "make bzImage", the command:

make bzlilo

will automatically copy both vmlinuz and System.map to the / directory and rename the old ones to vmlinuz.old and System.old. Don't forget to /sbin/lilo before rebooting.
