Keep Mobile phone's IrDA up

I have connected my Nokia 8210 with my linux box via IrDA with gnokii. However,if there is no data transfer within 2 minutes, the connection will be stopped. So,my question is,how can I maintain the connection no matter there is data transfer or not?Because it is troublesome to turn on the mobile phone IrDA again everytime after 2 minutes or so.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
