Keep Losing Network Connection

Hi I just installed RH9, I love it by the way, and unless I keep the network configuration app up i lose my connection to my dad's XP computer which is wat I get my internet access from. Can anyone please help me? Thanks.

Ok so what your trying to tell us is your using the XP computer

to do a Internet Connection Sharing or better known as ICS.

Which demands the Xp box to run in order to share the connection well

the onlyway around this is to buy a router or hub.

The hub is cheaper but the router would probably be the best move.

Unless your a networker and have a spare computer that you could run

with windows 2000 server and set it up as a router and have time to blow

the your best beat is to buy a router.

well have fun happy easter.

do you loose the connection when you close the config window on the XP box or the linux box? I have never done ICS on an XP machine, but I have it set up the other way around right now (Linux controlling everything, more secure that way).

Not sure I talked to a few of my friends but all of them went out and bought a router sorry.

It only takes about 2 min... to set up the windows Xp machine for this ICS just.

1. open Network Places.

2. click the wizard Set up a home or small office network.

3. follow the wizard but make sure you select ICS.

4. If you need more help just go to help and do a search for
Internet Connection Sharing.

I do believe you can log out and still maintain a connection via

ICS.

Its when i close the network config app in Linux. The network had no problem in RH8 which is what is confusing me unless they changed the way the handle networking,
