KDE kprinter does not connect to cups server

Hello,

My configuration:
LAN
3 computers
all:SuSE 9.3, Cups 1.1.23, KDE 3.4.0-28.2

I have installed cups server on one of my computers (static IP: 192.168.0.2) within a LAN. I have done some editing work in the "cupsd.conf" file (according to an instruction I found in a forum). The printer is connected to this computer and works fine for local printing jobs.

All firewalls are (temporarily) off.

I can detect the cups server using YaST and I have installed this as the only printer (using Yast printer configuration). I also have remote access through the web interface using http://192.168.0.2 and I also can execute a test print of the cups server by the web interface.

But when I try to print out of an application (e.g. OpenOffice) - I use kprinter for this - I only receive an error message like this (translated from german):

Quote:
error when loading printer list.
No connection to cups server. Please check if the cups server is installed correctly and running. Error: connection setup denied.
Any ideas what I miss or I did wrong?

Thanks for help.

Just a guess,
Either you didn't configure the printer on the client,
-or-
On the host, sounds like you opened to remote (Allow ...) in <Location /admin> in cupsd.conf which did allow you remote access and test print, but you have <Location /> closed to remote users. Put Allow to All in <Location /> and restart cups. Then on the remote, http://localhost:631 and configure printer to connect to the host and test print.

Other than that, I don't know how Suse does things.
