Anything with a .fw suffix is likely to be firmware. Many wifi cards have built-in processors that run their own "operating system". The kernel is supposed to detect and load this after loading its own driver for the hardware. The firmware files should be in /lib/firmware. If they aren't, you'll need to install them.
If Ubuntu manages firmware the same way that Mint does (which seems likely as Mint is based on Ubuntu), there will be a large package of miscellaneous firmware called something like linux-firmware and a separate program called fw-cutter, which you will also need to install. This program cuts out the bits of firmware that are needed for all the cards and puts them in /lib/firmware ready for use.
