iwconfig and the "bit rate"

Why does this always show: "bit rate=0 kb/s" even when the wirless card is under load? I just ran an online speed test and got 13.07mb/s. How can I check at which speed I am connected to my router? Thanks.

Oops, if someone could move this to the wireless sub-forum, that would be great.
