Issue with Linux box as a LAN firewall

Hello everyone, I'm trying to add a Linux firewall to my office LAN. The setup should be pretty basic but I'm having trouble getting it to work. Not having experience in manually writing rules, I tried IPCop and SmoothWall without any success. I know these distros are supposed to be pretty straightforward but d'oh. :(

My network setup is this:
Broadband router: 192.168.0.254 (cannot change this one)
|
Ethernet switch
|
Linux firewall eth1: 192.168.0.1
Linux firewall eth0: 192.168.1.1
Linux firewall DNS: 208.67.222.222 (OpenDNS)
Linux firewall gw: 192.168.0.254
|
Ethernet switch
|
LAN: 192.168.1.0 with Linux/Windows boxes.
LAN DNS: 192.168.1.1
LAN gw: 192.168.1.1

Maybe my mistake is in the network setup. The LAN machines couldn't get to the Internet. The network equipment is spare but works. Can anybody please help me getting it to work?

Thanks!!
