Isp connection with modem

Hi currently using MD8.1 and can connect to my isp but no data transfer occurs. Unfortunately I'm used to MD7.2 which is different and have never had problems setting up DNS etc through what was a GUI for linuxconfig I can't do it in 8.1 and its costing me a small fortune in phone costs.

1. PPP is set up and connects to the ISP.
2. I have set up the Address as default for DNS in Mandrake Configuration under root.
3. I have also tried using their wizards but with same results. No data transfer.

It should work?

***Quick note, in the past as current on install of MD it asks you to set up your connection which I never understood for it didn't do anything, I had to always set up the DNS Ip address manually. So the symptoms are the same I would say in not having the DNS setup correctly.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to transfer data by setting it up in 8.1.

Can anyone help?

Also:

Would anyone know why they have gone away from Drake Config to this new one?

What happend to Linuxconfig GUI I can only access it under a terminal.

I manage to fix this one folkes. I had the Ip address in the wrong spot.

Still only managed to do it usning Linuxconf through the terminal. I guess Mandrake Confingurations GUI doesn work so good.

Your attitude sucks. Simple mistakes are usually the hardest to figure out. Maybe when you know more about Linux you'll be helpful. A quick scan of your posts shows you can't find your CD, can't network, and don't know how to adjust your monitor (try the buttons on the front). we all start somewhere, and comments like this are unnecessary.
