ISA Network Card

I have a 3COM Etherlink III 3c509B - TPO card and I am having difficulty in installing the module. Mandrake sees the card and has the correct object file - 3c509. HardDrake errors because modprobe can't find isa-pnp module.

I seem to be so close yet so far away. I am desperate to get it working so that I can place my order with Blueyonder:D

Any ideas?

Look if you have isa-pnp module smewhere in /lib/modules. It should be. If you can find it, run depmod. Then check if HardDrake can install the driver.

I have discovered that this card needs PnP to be disabled. I have now done that using a DOS program. I have picked up io=210 from win98 and appeared to have success when I checked lsmod. However, after a reboot I had to repeat the procedure and modprobe errored. How do I obtain the correct resource settings?

There should be DOS program for a permanent change (the one you have should be able to do it).

Interestingly, I have found a KDE information utility which has given me io and irq. These are different to the win98 ones. I have used them with modprobe and then run ifconfig which tells me all is working.

Thanks for your help.
