If I setup a linuxbox as a router/firewall would it be possible to set it up so that some IP's had higher priority over others.
For example if Box A was downloading a huge file and using 100% of my bandwidth. Then Box B came online and wanted to surf the net, normally Box B would have a very slow connection to the net since it has to compete with Box A. Would it be possible to give Box B higher priority so that to that user they would not even know some one was online?
I think there probably is prioritizing, but I am sure there is limiting the amount of bandwidth, called QoS, or quality of service. You have to enable it in the kernel and search around on google for "linux qos".
