AGAIN, YOU ARE WRONG...there are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of pages that say you are. You can EASILY find out what's needed to edit a cron job with a simple Google search, and NONE OF THEM tell you that you need to restart cron.

You've been told how many, many times...aside from people here typing the command in for you, there isn't anything else we can do to help you. Get someone from your company who is smarter to do this....we can't be more plain in what you're being told. You've been spoon-fed the documentation, examples, and pretty much everything else, but STILL don't understand it.

I couldn't find the location /home/httpd , then the script, so the file mrtg.cfg isn't there. I have 4 of them in system, but they are in the /usr/share/doc/mrtg-2.16.2/contrib/ and 4 different subdirectories of it.
I had followed the instructions when installed this.

Correcting:
The directory /home/http/mrtg exists but is empty.

I put
*/5 * * * * mrtg env LANG=C /usr/bin/mrtg /root/mrtg_netcomro.cfg --logging /var/log/mrtg.log >> /tmp/debug.log 2>&1.
This debug.log is increasing, but this /var/log/mrtg.log is not being created.

Last time, thomazp. Either you can start paying attention and giving ACCURATE information, or you really should just hire someone else to do your job for you.

AGAIN, had you followed the instructions (AGAIN, posted here: http://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/doc/mrtg-unix-guide.en.html), you would NOT have '4 different subdirectories' with 4 different config files in them. You were told previously to DELETE EVERYTHING YOU DID, and re-install, because it is VERY clear you have badly botched this very simple task. Rather than trying to walk you through fixing the 1,000 little problems you're going to have (because you do not LISTEN or follow instructions), it's easier to re-install. (see http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...6/#post5572194) where you then argued about it.

Not surprising, since you've badly botched the VERY simple installation. Puzzling, since you said here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...5/#post5570686 that you installed mrtg "via yum". If you typed in "rpm -ql mrtg", you'd see the actual location of the mrtg.cfg file

...which is NOT

This debug.log is increasing, but this /var/log/mrtg.log is not very being created.
...in /root/mrtg_netcomro.cfg is it? And AGAIN, as has been said VERY PLAINLY MANY TIMES NOW, your command IS PLAIN WRONG. You have even been HANDED THE CORRECT COMMAND, and CONTINUE to use the wrong one, and you're AMAZED it's not working. This post:

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...3/#post5574620

TELLS YOU THE COMMAND...it was lifted almost verbatim from the installation instructions (which you CLAIM to have read and followed...although, if you did, it doesn't mention yum, does it?). Yet despite having the solution to your problem IN FRONT OF YOUR OWN EYES, you can't figure it out????

Call "Mr Josiah", or any of the people who you claim to have sent you private messages, and ask them for help. To be EVEN MORE PLAIN, since you're incapable of understanding the simplest terms, follow these steps:
  • On your keyboard, press the letters that make up "crontab -e"
  • Press ENTER
  • When it comes up, press the letters that type out
    Code:
    */5 * * * * /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg --logging /var/log/mrtg.log
  • Exit the editor
  • Wait five minutes
  • Look at MRTG again
If ANY of that is confusing to you, then get "Mr Josiah" to help you with those steps.

I Downloaded the other version and going to reinstall.
But when tried to do, they say I don't have GD installed, but when did the first, I put the libgd, the version libgd-2.2.0 .
Do I need to . configure and install it?
Thanks,

When tried ./configure, he says to download GD, but the www.boutell.com site says the GD was replaced with the libgd. What to do now ?

Are you truly this stupid?

Here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...5/#post5570686 YOU SAID that you installed mrtg via YUM. So what is this "other version"? Why are you compiling from source, since you can type in "yum install mrtg", and have it all installed for you???

Again, you leave out anything that could be helpful. What "boutell" site? And what's the point?

Not only could you not afford me, I'd never work for someone as dim as you.

I saw your nervous tip only now.
I will remove the two fields.
It's there only because the documentation says to put the user , root in this case.
Take water plus sugar to stay calm and tomorrow I will correct and post here.

No, it doesn't..never has, in ANY of the documentation you've been spoon-fed for a LONG time now...you've even been TOLD that explicitly in numerous places. Yet ignored it.

I'm very calm...just don't like babysitting.

The MRTG graphs are not being generated.
The /var/log/messages is increasing, and the message: no available LDAP server found. < Old message.
Now, at least, the cron is running, but mrtg don't generate any graphs.
And the mrtg.log is not being created either.

Hi,
I installed a sw to analyze my routers.
I put in the cron to run every 5 minutes.
I put this way:
*/5 * * * * <dir>/cmd <option> --logging /var/log/logfile .
But it runs only if I type it in cmd line, but I know cron is running.
Can an someone tells me what to do?
Thanks
