Unhappy Is it that difficult?

Hi all,

I'm sorry i keep on asking the same question, but since i don't get a response??!!
Does anyone use Tinyfirewall, that comes with linux (mandrake) ? If yes, how do you configure it ( and where ) to accept certain ports, like in Zonealarm? (can't get Webmin to run anymore, ever since I turned the firewall on, and there's no OFF button )

Please help, the system is "useless" sofar

well. never used "tinyfirewall" but i'm sure if you look at the script file...it will tell you where it is saving the firewall rules. maybe look in /etc/sysconfig/iptables or
/etc/sysconfig/ipchains.
i'm not sure what tiny is writing.
anyway, once you find out what is loaded and where it is saving its rules to. then you can just edit the rules manually - open whatever ports you want to....

Thanks for your response Dangel,

It's weird you know. I found a way, om the net, to turn off the firewall, ( I now believe bastille and tinyfirewall are the same thing? anyhow...) but that didn't work either. I ended up re-installing the whole Mandrake thing, where i selected Gnome this time. This way, I could simply delete iptables, and install Firestarter, like suggested on many threads.

This works great now. Webmin is running, which will "finally" allow me to disconnect my monitor and keyboard from the server, and control it from a distance. Fun !!

Thanks again,
c ya
