Question Is it possible to PXE-boot squashfs-based distro without having to use nfs/http/ftp ?

Hi !
So that's the question.
I tried many options, but it never worked.
Some distros can use e.g. the netboot=tftp://10.0.0.1/systemrescuecd/sysrcd.dat
But i can't with squashfs.

Not enough to guess an answer.

Distro's have to be able to have the ability to be net booted. Squashfs systems tend to be kind of large so the way all that needs to be moved over is part of the issue. Not sure if memdisk would do or another to hold it.

For the most part tftp and any other network is similar with the exception of tftp server options such as block size. Also tftp is connectionless and may have many errors.

One can also try gpxe/ipxe but would still have to have an ability to boot over network. I remember some distro's have some third party help to use a special initrid file and maybe some other changes.

Ok, i wondered if _all_ distros have this netboot ability from scratch.
Seems it's not the case, and it's sad.

Thx for your answer.

Opps, that is more correct. Not all distro's have the ability to be net booted.
