Is it possible to configure for binding dhcp to ip/interface?
Hi all,
Can i have suggestion , i'm trying to have two dhcp server on same machine with two interface[gateway]
eth0-192.168.1.104
eth1-192.168.10.104
am unable to figure how to bind dhcp to ip, say 192.168.1.104
and another on eth1-192.168.10.104
basic is to have control[modify/start/stop] over dhcp servers of two subnet.
instead of specifying in same /etc/dhcpd.conf
thanks in advance

It's worth backing up and seeing why you want to do this in the first place. It's common to use one single instance of dhcpd to serve hundreds of networks full of clients, not just two interfaces... there is no problem to define two subnets in a single dhcpd.conf file.

Well, he could be DHCP'ing a couple of different networks that have no routing between them. *shrug*
Either way, no, you can't.

heh, OP mistook "report" for "reply"...

yeap i agree to what you saying, if we want to disable /modify dhcp on specific subnet{} we need to restart the service dhcpd, which is going to affect already allocated ips of other subnet, the ips would be again availabe, as memory is refreshed, on restart.
we prefer to bifurcate control of two subnets, has there are two entirely different servers catering service to 2 subnets.

not true. you can hup the daemon to reread a config file and maybe have 1 second of outage. dhcp leases are written to disk, they are not lost. as above, how could you service over 10,000 systems on dhcp if they all get lost on a reboot?
