Is it possible to call your pc from the road and use its internet cable service?

Just exploring the possibility. I have a PC with a cable connection. I ditched my land line for the cell phone. I was wondering if there is a way to call the home pc from my laptop on the road and get internet access. I probably wont be able to test this (if it is possible) but somewhere down the road I might. Any ideas?
