Is it necessery to undergo training at Cisco certified center to get certification
Hi,
I want to get CCNA certification, I want to know that ,is it necessery to undergo training at Cisco certified center in order to appear for the exam for CCNA.
Anyone knowing please help!
Regards-Alok
It is not even necessary for you to undergo a training. The only thing that matters is that you should give exam by yourself & clear it to get the certification. If you feel you need training, you can get it done the way you want. You can read books sitting at your home & practice at simulators or you can join any institute (not neccessary cisco certified) to get the training.
Thanx Amit for helping me. But I want to know where can I get those simulators for simulating various equipments.
Is there any site or place to get it?
Regards-Alok
I dont have much of an idea about where can you find all those simulators, but googling will soon help you out at this. About LQ, try searching forums for "simulators", maybe you can get a little lucky.
I found one while doing the same .. Thread for Simulator link for cisco 7200

I currently am enrolled in a Cisco Certified University. 8 semester class for the CCNP.
Yes you could learn the material @ home, I don't question that, but you will not gain the experience required w/o having access to some physical equipment. Simple as that. Sims are nice and we use them from time to time, but there are just some things you cannot do w/sims.
My advice, look into a center where you can actually visit.
I was in the position where my job and finances wouldn't allow a class of any kind. So, I hit the books and used simulators as much as I could to get my ccna . One site I liked in particular was http://www.boson.com/
The CCNA Self Study books by Cisco Press come with simulations on a CD and also a coupon for the Test.. definetly worth buying...
I'll second that. I've been working with Cisco equipment for some time, but never went for the certification. My company said they'd pay for my certification, so I'm doing self study using the CCNA Self-Study books. The Boson simulator is ok, but I've found a few mistakes in it, so since I work for an IT company and have access to spare routers, I just use those for practice.
If you do go with the Self-Study books from Cisco Press, but sure to check the ciscopress.com website for updates and error corrections, as there are quite a few misprints through the first 11 printings, some that could cause you to miss test questions.
