Is a dedicated x server worth it?

Hi,

I have now at my disposal an AMD-K6 II 333MHz, 128Mb ram and a 20 GB disk.
My question is: is it worth it to run the x server on this machine to serve my main computer(an AMD 64 3500+), will it save resources and improve linux\openbsd speed(on boot-up at least, since it wouldn't have to start the x server.

Is it worth it?

PS:I also intend to use this machine as a file and backup server, and other things as it comes to mind and it will probably run openbsd.

As far as I know your x server need to run at the same physical computer as your video card. After all it is the software responsible for the infacing of hardware and applications. If it worked I to do that way I am convinced that you would suffer greatly in åerformance. The graphics would have to travel across the vastly slower network connection and be processed by a slow computer, instead of be handled by your speedy AGP bus and powerfull AMD 64.
