IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling - GRE vs SIT

Hello !!

I'm deploying IPv6 over IPv4 tunneling environment , based on encapsulation of 6 over 4 using two protocols that supported by Linux : SIT and GRE . Both are set on tunnel point-to-point interface , performing encapsulation of IPv6 related traffic into regular ipv4 .
And everything works fine ...

The only question is : what is the best solution to use , GRE or SIT ?
What are the differences between both protocols when encapsulating IPv6? What protocol is most popular and common in the world. What about interoperability with Windows/Cisco/Netscreen and more.

thanx ,

Kogi.

From the kernel help ::

Quote:
This particular tunneling driver implements GRE (Generic Routing Encapsulation) and at this time allows encapsulating of IPv4 or IPv6 over existing IPv4 infrastructure. This driver is useful if the other endpoint is a Cisco router: Cisco likes GRE much better than the other Linux tunneling driver ("IP tunneling" above). In addition, GRE allows multicast redistribution through the tunnel.
I don't remember where to find SIT, or I would've posted its comments. But I think the above makes it clear.
