IPv6 ifconfig at boot? (SuSE)

I'm having a real problem getting my SuSE boxen to automatically install an IPv6 (static) address at boot. There does not appear to be anywhere to stick the address in any of the setup tools or config files. I've tried adding a start script with it, but it "just doesn't work" (no error, nothing). I can successfully generate other start scripts, so I'm guessing it's something odd about ifconfig that it doesn't work at that point in the boot cycle (I've tried S01 and S99). My current solution is to log in and run my script manually whenever I have to reboot the machine...

Quite frustrating as Mac OS X, BSD, and even my Windows boxen can do this quite easily! :( I had those all setup in around 15 minutes, and now have 4 hours into the Linux setup and still no go :(
