How do u tell lan traffic is blocked? I will try this tonight once home.

you can run tcpdump... OR

you can add an iptables rule to LOG everything that is not entertained by the filters .... but that will be pretty harsh on your diskspace.

I was unclear last post. By reading the iptable.conf how were u able to tell that I was blockling lan traffic?

Just by looking at the ruleset and not seeing any rules to allow local traffic (if you look at enough iptables firewalls, they actually do get easier to read). I'm also pretty sure that it won't work if you try and ping the internal nic of the firewall. You'll also need to add a rule to allow traffic on the lo (loopback) interface of you'll get weird errors as well.

I am going to be upgrading to fedora core 2 tonight most likely. I thought thats what I had at first. I will save the conf's that you guys helped with so much. Appreciate all the help again.
