iptables and webcam

I'm trying to stick to a default iptables policy of blocking and the opening for whaever's needed. However, I'm having difficulty figuring out what exact port/protocol to open for services such as (ahem). I can only connect if I change the default policy to accept and flush the rules.

So my question is: Is there some way to query the connection that is trying to get established so that I can see what port needs to be opened?

check their website on which port they use. Its usually mentioned on their website.
Or run wireshark to see which port your can tries to use.
