IPsec connection on RedHat9 - few questions

Hi,

I compiled kernel-2.6.2 with all the stuff needed for IPsec (AH/ESP/IPfwd...etc, crypto-options and stuff) and also installed ipsec-tools-0.2.4. Configured ifcfg-ipsec0 to start on boot and it says [ok]

...but I dont see it when I type ifconfig. Is that ok? And also, if I try to start/stop the ipsec0 with commands ifup/ifdown ipsec0 it says :

[root@xyz]# ifdown ipsec0
Not enough of information: "dev" argument is required.
[root@xyz]#

...as normal user :

[beetle@xyz ~]$ ifdown ipsec0
usage: usernetctl <interface-config> <up|down|report>
Users cannot control this device.

I configured my connection using RadHat tutorial or whatever ...online database for IPsec network-2-network connection.

Thnx for your time

B
