Lightbulb ipchains & iptables

hi
could any one tell me the difference between Ipchains & iptables. would appreciate ur help

Ipchains was used in older kernels. For newer ones iptables is available. Iptables has much more possibilities, options etc. But it is also more complicated, so it's harder to write rules for iptables than ipchains. And they are longer...
