Question ip_alias with redhat 7.2

I am running redhat 7.2 server configuration. I am attempting to set up multiple web sites using virtual ip address's. After many and I mean many attempts to get this to work, I have come to the conclusion that I need to set up alias network devices to point to the virtual web sites and domains I am trying to host. I am getting an error on bootup stating the the initialization of my ethernet card failed because the ip address can't be assigned. This only happens when I select the option to allow alias devices in my network card setup. I checked to see if ip_alias.o was running and it isn't. Seems that in kernels 2.4.x.x ip_alias.o isn't activated because of some new firewall capability.

So finally my questions are:
1. What is this new firewall capability that I can configure that replaces ip_alias.o. I can't seem to find it referenced anywhere.

2. Where can i find this ip_alias.o module and install it. This might be easier for me to do. I have searched my entire file system for it and it doesn't exist.

3. Because I am very new at LInux, hacking and configuring the kernel is something I am not comfortable doing. Should I just go to redhat 7.1 instead of 7.2 to correct this problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
