ip problem on dual boot


Hello to all the linux usere.

I got my box with a dual boot (Windows XP and SuSE 9.1).

The problem is that I set the IP nic in linux, It doesnt work in windows. I mean the same IP for the nic does not work in both of the OSs.

It has become a serios problem and need help.

my nic/ethernet card is 3com 3c905c tx

How exactly you make sure tht it isnt working ? I mean as how do you confirm ... thru pinging or surfing ?
But thru 'ifconfig' on linux & 'ipconfig' on windows you do get your ip assigned on the ethernet cards & also you mentioned that both the ips are same.

Are you unable to ping other computers or others cannot ping you or both the case are happening ?

Can you post more detail here ?

here is a simple way to explain

I have a look at ipconfig in XP.
I enter the same ip numbers i linux and it works.
I log on back to XP, and it doesnt work.

I think I will need 2 nic's, but just trying to save money
