IP over Fibre Channel on Ubuntu 15.04?
I want to try to get some fibre channel cards that I ordered off of ebay(to be specific qlogic QLE2462 cards) to run like Ethernet cards. I have done some research into IP/FC and I found out that the Linux kernel got rid of RFC 2625 in the 2.xx kernel days. I have tried to set up the fibre channel card to run as an Ethernet device, but it would never show up in ifconfig. When I connect two computers with the cards lights on the cards for 2Gb light up (they are 4Gb cards so I don't know what the deal is). I just want to know what I should try next or what I'm doing wrong. I also want to know why the cards 4Gb light isn't lighting up.
BTW I'm trying to do this to replace Ethernet in my house with fibre, which will also be faster.
