ip masqed redhat linux 9 cannot browse and trouble configuring printer to samba
 

Systems:
1. Redhat linux 9
eth0 -> USB -> Motorola SB5100 surfboard -> ISP
hostname=mofiddpc ip=DHCP

eth1 -> D-Link 538-TX NIC -> D-Link Switch
hostname=mofiddpc ip=192.168.0.1

lp0 -> Epson Stylus C41SX

2. Dual boot:
Redhat linux 9
eth0 -> D-Link 538-TX NIC -> D-Link Switch
hostname=ronapc
ip=192.168.0.2 gateway=192.168.0.1 domain=link.net.id
dns1=202.137.3.120 dns2=202.137.3.121

Windows 98 SE
TCP/IP -> D-Link 538-TX NIC -> D-Link Switch
hostname=ronapc
ip=192.168.0.2 gateway=192.168.0.1 domain=link.net.id
dns1=202.137.3.120 dns2=202.137.3.121 sufix=mofiddpc

3. Windows 98 SE Arabic
TCP/IP -> onboard NIC -> D-Link Switch
hostname=mfa
ip=192.168.0.3 gateway=192.168.0.1 domain=link.net.id
dns1=202.137.3.120 dns2=202.137.3.121 sufix=mofiddpc

Question:
1. I have found something odd with my home network. Windows 98 in system 2 and 3 can access the internet. But Redhat linux 9 in system 2 can't. How can i fix Redhat linux 9 in system 2, so it can access the internet?
I don't think suffix working yet since i haven't configure DNS server in system 1.
2. How to share printer in system 1 through samba? I don't know the path to spool. I've tried this:
/usr/sbin/lpadmin -h mofiddpc -p StylusC41SX -u allow:all
lpadmin: add-printer failed: server-error-service-unavailable

i've been working with my network for 1 month, and i've been exhausted. So this is my last attempt to fix the remaining problem with my linux.

Sounds like a simular problem that I was having about a month ago ,
I was however able to access the web with linux sometimes , I think it eventully turned out
to be a server problem with my Internet provider , however when my provider gave me a static
Ip address I had to do something else I could have bought a router and gone from my dsl conection to my router and then to my hub where all my local network connections are.
I choose however to download a proxie server from the web (ccproxie) it was free to use for a small network i installed it on my windows pc that I wanted for my server and with alittle tinkering here and there I figured out how to configure my network proxie . I then went to my other PC's and set all my browsers to use a proxie server , Linux and windows work just fine with this windows proxie , I am
currently using windows ME and Fedora & SuSE with this server. Instant messengers work just fine
along with mozilla & netscape I do miss my news ticker (there was no proxie configuration built into it) I am sure I could have done this using Linux as my proxie server I certainly would have preferred
that but being a newbie I am still working on it , but this was a quick solution and seemed to solve some of my internet problems . I now can access the web with about anything I throw at it including
Morphix and some other simular operating systems I also tried win98 and it had no problem either.

I'm sorry but some of my favourite websites don't behave well behind proxy. So i'm gonna wait for the next solution. Thanks though.

A friend says to make a gateway would solve. I thought there aren't any other option beside ip masq and proxy?

in windows i noticed that the host name would be ronapc.link.net.id but why in linux both server and system 2 it's localhost.link.net.id? when i tried forcing it by writing ronapc.link.net.id in redhat-network-config hostname, there's a message like "fail to get domain link.net.id". Could be a hint?

I've discovered a new tool in redhat called SWAT. when i try around, i think i accidentally become the domain controler of link.net.id. there's a bunch of people names in samba log that aren't mine.

common guys, i see a lot of same problem in the other postings. how can windows client connect to the internet while linux client can't? i even using the same distro for client with the ip masq connection server.
