IP is resetting after reboot

Hello friends....I have a problem with my client PC. PC has a static ip 10.162.41.159 (supplied by editing and saving eth0 file, not by command line) in LAN. netmask is 10.162.41.128 and gateway is 10.162.41.129. My problem is after rebooting, ip is resetting into 10.162.41.130. It happens after rebooting even network cable is removed!!!if i restart network service ip will reassigned into 10.162.41.159. i dont know why this happens..Plz help me....thanks in advance...

Which version of linux is this ?

You probably have DHCP enabled on the client so it looks for an IP address on booting.
If the old IP address lease hasn't expired, it will continue to use it.

It is RHEL 5 Client version.

DHCP is disabled and network cable is removed. Still have the same problem after rebooting...could you please clarify how to expire the old IP address's lease and assign new IP address?

Hye

please recheck your netmask, this can't be 10.162.41.128. It think it should be something like 255.255.255.128.

In my thin clients i have supplied netmask as 255.255.255.128...they have no problem...but in PC, if i gave netmask as 255.255.255.128 it will not ping, says network not reachable...if i gave 255.0.0.128, it will work...wts going wrong here?
