Lightbulb IP configuration


Am a new linux user still fresh.My issue is to edit IPs,Gateway and put new ones in a Linux box.

What distribution are you using? It differs for each. As you are new I'd suggest that you stick to the graphical interfaces. Redhat, Fedora and CentOS supplies system-config-network. Suse supplies Yast. Both of these tools permit you to tweak network settings within a friendly GUI.

gnome and kde both provide network utilities...

You can do it manually via the command line using the ifconfig and route commands.

You can also edit the /etc/network/interfaces file which may be different depending on your distro.
