but i don't have rc.firewall in any directory.
Despecially not in /etc/rc.d/
Only rc.local exist.

or ignore all that.. and get a router.. makes life easier

also in ur win 98 machine if u go to control panel> internet options> lan connections u must set up ur proxy server
that is.... http (ur linux nic ip addy) port 80
ftp ( " " " ) port 8000
socks( " " " ) port 1080
as well as setting the dns server in network connections tcp/ip as Matthieu said.

if the dns (isp addresses dont work) then try putting the dns server as ur linux ip address.
try going to start run and type winipcfg in ur windows machine whilst ur linux box is online this may give u some information too.

u can also try clicking on my computer or c drive and enable sharing.
