Can you tell us which Linux distribution you installed ? (Mandrake, RedHat, SuSE, etc)
Also, I am not sure if I understand exactly how your local network is setup.

The internet (cable modem) connects to the P4. The P4 connects to the switch and the switch connects to Linux.
Is this correct ?

Internet Setup - Thiz Linux

My mom bought the same system but hers is a little older - it has Thiz Linux 5.0. Hopefully the setup is the same.

Go to Thiz Menu, select ThizConfig

On the right side select Network Config.
Click on the radio button beside DHCP.
(You have to enter the password in "Root Password")
Then hit Save Changes.

On the right side again select Broadband Config.
Click on the radio button beside DHCP.
(You have to enter the password in "Root Password")
Then hit Save Changes.

On the right side again select Samba Config.
Enter a computer name (like MOM-LINUX).
(You have to enter the password in "Root Password")
Then hit Save Changes.

That did it for me - I could then use Netscape.

Hope this helps.
