Internet Problem


Hey there, i am currently using slackware 10 and everytime i reboot my computer i have to request a new ip address via dhcpcd. What i would like to know is there a configuration that should be doing this for me?

edit your /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf. Set USE_DHCP[n]=YES for the appropriate ethernet card.

Thankyou, i have modified that i have left the other fields blank i assume thats the done thing. previously i had a command in rc.local that called dchpcd on boot. Sometimes it didnt work and i had to reboot do u think this will sort that out?
Or any explanation why that occured?

Actually rc.inet1 will take care of dhcpcd too. You can safely comment out the dhcpcd line in your rc.local.
