Status: not connected (tried to connect but says verify Configuration in Mandrake Control Center)

What it shows as Lan Configuation:

Protocol: DHCP
Driver: 8139too
State: up

Lan Config:
Adaptor:eth0
Ip Address: blank
Netmask: 255.255.255.0

Did you have your dns point to the right dns address? and Did you set the correct gateway?
try this:

netstat -rn (check the value UG in the Flags field - that is your default gw)

you should only have one line with UG and if that line is other than
0.0.0.0 10.60.26.251 .... then you have a problem.
assumming the output is:
0.0.0.0 w.x.y.z do this:
route del default gw w.x.y.z
then issue this command:
route add default gw 10.60.26.251

Cheers.

oops.... sorry forgotten bout that one

cat /etc/resolv.conf
your should see
nameserver w.x.y.z
where w.x.y.z is the nameserver ip address
this should solve everything

Had the same problem for weeks.
GO to your control center, boot section, and tick the box "no apic" in boot options.

End of story on my side from the moment I made that.

When i go to the boot section in the control center there are there icons that you can pick 'DrakFloppy', 'DrakAutoInst' and 'DrakBoot'.

I have checked all three of them and there is no 'no apic' to tick

Hum. I don't know for sure how it should be, but here is how I got that :
I restarted an install, pressed whichever <F> it is you have to press to have the possibility to pass an option, and typed at the boot prompt : "linux noapic". Then In the drakboot thing I had the option "noapic". But I honestly don't know if it was there before I did that.

Opinion, anyone ?

Probably not DNS, since you are on DHCP and the DNS can be found in your router (which is where your XP box finds them). Try to ping directly the IP address of, say, google (66.102.11.104). If you don't get through, your problem is deeper than DNS. If you do get through, then it's certainly DNS.

Sorry I could not be more useful, anyway.
