Internet email rejected

In an attempt to setup a personal webmail server on my current Debian Buster machine I have installed postfix and dovecot and tested as well as I am able from withing my network and all is well. I can send and receive email from and to any of the machines on my Intranet but.....
I cannot receive emails from the Internet.
I have checked port settings on the router and it appears all well
Please advise what I may have got wrong.

Setting up a mail server is a large and complicated topic.
Troubleshooting a problem together would require a lot of information you haven't provided so far.
Please make that effort.
Start here maybe: https://wiki.debian.org/Postfix https://wiki.debian.org/Dovecot

"I cannot receive emails from the Internet" isn't a very useful description of your issue. Also, you haven't really described your setup in any detail.

Do you have a registered domain on the Internet?

Is your MX record pointing to a hostname which in turn points to your public IP address?

Do you get a non-delivery error message when you try to send e-mails from an external account? If so, what does it say?

How did you configure Postfix to accept incoming mail?

Are there any messages in the Postfix mail log?

Check your MX record:
Code:
$ host yourdomain
It should say something like
"yourdomain mail is handled by 10 mx.yourdomain."
If not, contact your DNS administrator.

Then, you need to make sure your postfix is aware of your domain.
Code:
$ postconf mydestination
If you see macros (like ``$mydomain``) use same command to resolve it
Code:
$ postconf mydomain
Then, make sure your port "25" is opened: try to
Code:
$ telnet yourserverip 25
from the remote server to see if it works. If not, you need to check your firewall (``$ iptables -L -v -n`` or something like that)

As a last step, check your ``/var/log/maillog``.
