internet connection with dhcp

I configured a linux server completely
(internet sharing, samba, postgresql, tomcat, apache, ...)
and by some very stupid mistake I lost my internet setup.

Running the wizard in the control centre doesn't help a thing ...

I run mandrake 10,
and connected with a cable modem to the internet.

where can I check things,
what must I do to have my internet connection back ?

I had a (small) spare disk that I plugged in just to get on the net again ...

Please help me out here

try typing at the prompt dhcpcd .. if it says already running then

dhcpcd -k

and then

dhcpcd

and check it with ifconfig.. this is assuming your cable company gives out an ip automattically using dhcp

oh and do you use multiple ip's.. i have cable and multiple ip's can be a pain.. so if you do and dhcpcd doesnt get an ip.. then you may need to call your cable company

I don't know what you mean by "multiple ip's' ...

but at the command promt (as root)
I get: command not found ...
is it located somewhere outside the default path ?
