Internet connection sharing with Firewall
Hi
This question is kind of branching off from a previous post, hope this is ok.
I have two computers on my home LAN:
Desktop: 192.168.1.1 with Internet Connection and printer sharing
Laptop 192.168.1.20 connecting directly to my Desktop via CAT 5 ethernet.
Both machines are running Mandrake 9.1 with Samba configured (or at least configured best I can!). From my Desktop I can see shares on my laptop and I can ping it. Unfortunately, I can't see shares on my desktop from my laptop, but I can share the printer and connect to the internet ok using 192.168.1.1 as the gateway.
I am wondering if the fact that the internet connection sharing is done through the firewall (shorewall I think???), is the firewall blocking my laptop IP address, and if so how do I correct this?
I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but I did (somehow?) manage to view the shares on my Desktop - but I lost my internet connection over the network...
Help appreciated
Steve
